Howto: Syncing Sports Calendars on Google Calendar for BlackBerry and Android

Posted on April 30, 2010

I've been cut/pasting this around the Google Mobile Help forums for a while now; I guess it's time for a nice post.

Love seeing those nice sports calendars in your Google Calendar, but hate that you can't sync them over to BlackBerry or Android?  Yahoo Sports calendars is the solution.

Upgrading a BlackBerry Storm to 5.0.0.230

Someone (great app, pay the $5 for the ad-less version) asked me if there were any tricks to upgrading a Verizon BlackBerry Storm (9530) to the latest leaked OS, and this is what I came up with:

FileScout tip for BlackBerry Storm users

Posted on September 18, 2009

So, this guy makes a great File Manager app for BlackBerry called FileScout.

One of the newer (and most useful in my opinion) features is the ability to select multiple files and attach them to an email right from the app.  The only way to do this natively in the BlackBerry OS is to create an email and then attach each file one-by-one until you're finished.

Here's the tip:

BlackBerry OS 5.0.0.230 for Storm

Some love for the Storm users. OS 5.0.0.230

How to install 5.0.0.230 on your Storm

In short, install 5.0.0.191 and unzip .230 over it, then run apploader.

Open Table Mobile not working from BB AppWorld?

Posted on August 3, 2009

Since BlackBerry AppWorld seems to be having some issues downloading/installing the new OpenTable mobile app for BB, here's some instructions:

  1. go here: http://www.getjar.com/products/28420/OpenTable
  2. download the .alx and the .cod files to your PC (I don't think the device matters)
  3. connect BB to PC, start up DM ( :-p )
  4. goto Application Loader
  5. goto Add/Remove Applications
  6. click Browse, find the downloaded .alx file
  7. click Next

...and that should be it;  now go make a reservation!
